The Chatham Historical Society is always looking for photos, books and artifacts to add to its collections. But today, we have a special project!
In mid-July Susan Allen and Heidi Huston, co-presidents of the Chatham Historical Society, saw their hard work and perseverance pay off when our new archivally correct storage cabinet arrived at Borough Hall.
Inspired by one of our past programs, "A Walking Tour Through Chatham's Past at Fair Mount Cemetery," board members Amy Crandall and Christine Grobert put together a special field trip for all fourth graders from Lafayette School. Using the cemetery as a unique setting to teach some local history, the program featured drama students from the High School, dressed in period costumes, performing short narratives in the vicinity of various final resting places of influential people from Chatham's past.
Our Annual Dinner and Meeting on May 8th was attended by approximately 90 members! Board member Helen Ann Rosenfeld organized the Dani McCullough Adopt-A-House presentations - Susan Allen, Kathleen Sims and Carolyn McCarthy each shared the wonderfully rich histories of their well-researched Chatham Homes.
